When family and/or friends come to town, the first thing we do is go on the Magical Sunset Cruise. For first timers, it is the perfect way to see the area from a different perspective. I call it a “city tour by the sea”. And the sunsets… As each sunset is uniquely beautiful, everyone enjoys this particular sunset cruise time and time again.
The Picante is a 75 foot catamaran with a beam of 35′ and a mast height over the water of 100′. I always encourage my guests to volunteer to hoist the sail! The boat is simply beautiful, and very comfortable. With plenty of room to laze about in the netting up front (which also offers the best place to spot dolphins and whales!), seating around the sides (my preference), benches as well as a few tables with plastic chairs. Men’s and women’s bathrooms on board as well as plenty of shade make this a dream! Under NORMAL conditions, this catamaran seats 80 people. HOWEVER, they currently only allow up to 45 passengers, putting people at ease with plenty of room to spread out.
What makes this cruise so special is partly the sunsets, partly the gorgeous boat and partly the fabulous crew. We have been to many, many seaside destinations, and catching a sunset is one of my favorite pastimes. We have been on some pretty amazing boats with decent crews, but we have yet to meet a crew as wonderful as the crew on Picante! Dedicated to safety and making guests happy, the captains and crewmembers are tops! I follow their Facebook page, and enjoy reading comments from their fans who cannot wait to return on board with their favorite crew; it seems I am not alone in singing their praises!
The cruise includes transportation to/from the Ixtapa hotel zone, a light dinner and open bar. Whenever I mention “open bar”, I immediately point out that this is NOT Cancun, therefore “open bar” does not mean this is a booze cruise. Teetotalers and children are on board as well as those who enjoy ice cold beer. There is no pushing of cocktails, which is one of the things I love most about this crew. Safety is first, and they cater to everyone. As it should be on any tour!
