Yes, we are back in the Red… Our government has announced that the state of Guerrero has returned to Semáforo Rojo (Covid Red Light) for the dates of January 27 to February 14. While this is not a full-stop Semáforo Rojo, it is a state-wide warning to all that Covid continues to spread, and that the government wants everyone to take this very seriously.
While the overwhelmed areas continue to be in the more populated cities such as Acapulco, Chilpancingo and Iguala- it is important to note that people tend to let their guard down too often in beach destinations as we continue to see busloads of tourists as well as international travelers who have been forgetting about following the laws.
Let’s think positively! Those who have respected the rules will continue to do so, and those who have not will be reminded to respect their neighbors. AND: Hopefully we will see a return to sanitizing of public places on a regular basis, stalls at beach entrances where masks and antibacterial gel are provided, and a better eye on overcrowded water taxis, etc. And the re-opening date of February 14? That just means we look ahead with love in our hearts!
So, if it isn’t a full-stop Semáforo Rojo, what does this mean, you ask?
